Preparing Your Chemicals for EU Export. Key Steps to Poison Centre Notification.

Key Steps from "Eurotechstandart Conformity Assessment Body"

Is your company aiming to expand its markets and export chemical products or detergents to the countries of the European Union? "Eurotechstandart Conformity Assessment Body" LLC can help you navigate this path and unlock access to a consumer market of 500 million people!

Why is this important?❓

This is an opportunity for a significant expansion of sales markets and increased sales. Compliance with European standards is not only a legal requirement, but also a guarantee of successful entry into the EU market, increased consumer confidence, protection of human health and the environment, and avoidance of penalties for errors in the preparation of relevant documentation.

Exporting chemical products to the EU requires careful preparation and compliance with European standards. We have prepared a concise overview of the main stages for you, among which the most important are:

🔹Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in English

This is a mandatory document containing information about the composition, properties, hazards, and safety measures for your product. It must comply with the requirements of the REACH and CLP Regulations. By creating a basic safety data sheet in English with us, you can get an SDS in any other language of the EU countries or Ukrainian at half price.

🔹Appointing a Responsible Person (RP) in the EU

To export chemical products to the EU, it is necessary to have a responsible person who is a resident of the EU. The RP is responsible for ensuring the product's compliance with European legislation, communicating with regulatory authorities, and providing information about the product. Requirements for the RP include knowledge of EU chemical legislation, technical competence, and the ability to represent the manufacturer's interests in the EU.

🔹Preparation of a Dossier for Chemical Products

The dossier must include:

  • Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the substance/product and for each ingredient in the mixture.
  • Quality certificate for the product.

  • Biodegradability test results or other necessary tests.

  • Toxicological information in the languages of the countries to which export is planned.

🔹Fragrance Documents

For fragrances, it is necessary to prepare a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), an allergen list, and an IFRA certificate (International Fragrance Association).

🔹Generating a UFI Code

The UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) is a unique 16-character code that identifies your product and allows poison centers to quickly obtain information about its composition in the event of an accident. This code must be indicated on the product label when exporting to EU countries.

🔹Product Labeling in the Language of the Country to Which You Plan to Export

A mandatory requirement is the presence of labeling on the product that complies with the requirements of the CLP Regulation (Classification, Labeling and Packaging). It is important that the labeling is prepared in the language of the country to which the export is carried out. Hazard statements and precautionary statements must be translated and comply with the definitions established in the CLP for the relevant languages. This will ensure that consumers correctly understand the hazard information and prevent possible risks.

🔹Notification to the ECHA Poison Centre and Obtaining a Notification Report and Dossier with a PCN Registration Number

After preparing the dossier, it is necessary to notify the Poison Centre of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The result of successful registration is obtaining a notification report and a dossier on the product with a PCN (Poison Centre Notification) registration number.
