Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is a document that includes a list of information related to occupational safety and health for the use of various substances and products. The SDS contains the necessary information on chemicals, mixtures, and compounds, and may include instructions for safe use and information on the potential hazards associated with a particular material or product, as well as spill treatment procedures.
MSDS formats may vary by country and by national standards.
The passport is an extremely important document when:
-
export and/or import of products
-
logistics of hazardous substances
-
new product development
-
certification and more.
In accordance with the Guidance on Labeling and Packaging under the CLP Regulation, passports must indicate the signs and phrases of the product, as defined in the HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION section. In total, the MSDS must contain 16 mandatory sections.
The new SDS format contains more requirements for assessing the safety of the product for the environment and beyond.
When developing passports for household chemicals, experts pay very careful attention to the available odors and dyes, checking all other components, including containers and packaging.
The development of a safety passport in Ukraine is regulated by the requirements of DSTU:
-
GOST 30333-2007 "Safety passport of chemical products. General requirements "(DSTU GOST 30333: 2009" Safety passport of chemical products "(entered into force on 01.01.2010));
-
GOST 30340-2007 "Preventive labeling of chemical products" (DSTU GOST 30340: 2009 "Preventive labeling of chemical products" (introduced from 1.012010).
If you export products to EU countries, you may need to develop passports, both in English and in the language of the country to which the products are exported. Once a product has entered the market of an individual EU country, market surveillance authorities may request a safety data sheet in the language of the country to which the product was imported.
If you are interested in developing passports for household chemicals or other chemical products, you can always use the services of our company. Experienced European experts will conduct a preliminary examination of the product, assess the potential, point out the possible shortcomings of the recipe or something, and for an optimal fee will develop an SDS safety data sheet.
