Why is conformity assessment of electrical equipment to the technical regulations of NVO, EMC, and RoHS important?

As a rule, most electrical appliances and equipment require conformity assessment to the technical regulations on electromagnetic compatibility of equipment, low-voltage electrical equipment and the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS), which set out safety requirements for electrical equipment that is placed on the market or put into operation.

Conformity assessment determines whether products meet the requirements of the specified technical regulations.

Conformity assessment to technical regulations has several important aspects that manufacturers, importers, and distributors should be aware of:

  • Ensuring product safety: Conformity assessment allows to verify whether the manufacturer complies with the necessary safety requirements to protect consumers from potential hazards.

  • Compliance with legislation: Regular conformity assessment allows manufacturers and distributors to keep their products in line with legislation that changes over time.

  • Protecting the company's image: Regular conformity assessment helps to avoid scandals and damage to the company's reputation through the release of dangerous or poor-quality products to the market.

  • Excluding the risk of compensation for losses: If the product does not meet the requirements, it can cause legal problems, including the payment of compensation for losses caused by the use of poor-quality or dangerous products.

  • Document retention period: Manufacturers keep technical documentation and a declaration of conformity for 10 years after the release of the last unit of product by the manufacturer.

  • Conformity mark to technical regulations: The conformity mark to technical regulations is applied before the introduction of electrical equipment into circulation in the event of a successful conformity assessment of the product.

  • State market surveillance and state control: The manufacturer is obliged to provide technical documentation and a declaration of conformity on the product, if necessary, at the request of state market surveillance bodies for 10 years after the introduction of electrical equipment into circulation. A copy of the declaration of conformity may be provided to relevant state market surveillance bodies at their request.

Therefore, conformity assessment is an important stage in the process of production and placing products on the market, promoting the safety and compliance of products with regulatory requirements, and protecting responsible persons from penalties from market authorities.
